A woman who was pinned to a wall when a drink driver crashed into her said she is "struggling to comprehend how people can still be so incredibly irresponsible".

Nadine Wood from Lechlade suffered life irresolute injuries in May concluding year when the car beingness driven by Loic Freeman smashed into oncoming traffic before hitting her.

Moments earlier Nadine had been standing with a group of other people at Halfpenny Bridge - a minute's walk from her home - waiting to come across Elon Musk's Spacex satellite train spectacle pass overhead.

Freeman, of Bullinghope, Hereford, had been drinking for much of the mean solar day at a family picnic before he drove his Audi A5 through a red light, over the bridge and towards Mohammed Rahman's oncoming white Mercedes coupe and where Nadine was continuing.

Prosecutor Nicola Wood told Gloucester Crown Courtroom last calendar week: "At ix.50pm the traffic lights on the span turned green for Mr Rahman and he began his journey over the bow-backed bridge. Simply Freeman had jumped the lights at the other cease of the bridge and the 2 cars collided on the crest.

"The affect spun Freeman's vehicle around and the rear of his car pinned Ms Forest confronting the wall on the east side of the span."

Nadine suffered injuries to her pelvis, hip and spine forcing her to learn to walk again as well as suffering psychological trauma from what happened.

One of Mr Rahman's passengers, who has asked not to be identified, was as well seriously injured in the collision, the prosecutor said. He suffered 'substantial injuries' which needed urgent medical treatment in hospital.

Freeman, 26, who walked away from the scene of the crash just returned ten minutes later on, after police had arrived, was jailed for two and a half years afterward he admitted two charges of causing serious injury past unsafe driving.

At present Nadine has spoken farther of what happened that day and how she is recovering.

Nadine said: "What happened that day is notwithstanding and so vivid in my mind. I was continuing on the Halfpenny Span when I heard a car approaching at speed from my left and was aware of a car also approaching from my correct.

"I realised something bad was going to happen simply had no time to react. In a split second, I was crushed up confronting the span by one of the cars. And then I was on the ground in excruciating pain.

"I concluded upwards in hospital for more than 2 weeks with injuries to my pelvis, hip and spine. More than a year on, I'm notwithstanding significantly affected past my injuries on a daily footing.

"I don't call back I'll exist back to full health for a very long time, if always, but I'chiliad grateful that my recovery is progressing with rehabilitation treatment and the back up of my friends, family, and the local community.

"I am struggling to encompass how people can still exist and so incredibly irresponsible. All I can promise for now is that other drivers learn from this and stay safety on the roads. I wouldn't wish for others to have to become through what I have."
